Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. CCWA's primary mission is to provide quality workforce training solutions throughout the Greater Richmond region. In support of this mission, the Nurse Aide Assistant Coordinator/Instructor is responsible for coordinating and delivering non-credit workforce and certification training programs that prepare students for entry- to mid-level nursing and healthcare careers and lead to industry recognized credentials. The Nurse Aide Assistant Coordinator/Instructor will establish, maintain, and continuously improve the Nurse Aide Education Program and related healthcare training programs. The instructor will provide classroom, laboratory, clinical, and online instruction at Reynolds and Brightpoint Community College locations, as well as at employer and workforce partner sites throughout Central Virginia. Responsibilities include developing and updating curriculum, conducting quality assurance reviews of certification programs, maintaining classroom and laboratory equipment, and serving as the subject matter expert for curriculum and program content during employer and partner meetings. The instructor will also coordinate, mentor, and evaluate adjunct instructors to ensure instructional quality and program effectiveness. The successful candidate must be able to effectively teach and facilitate learning in healthcare laboratory, classroom, clinical, and online environments.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Registered nurse who holds a current, unrestricted license in Virginia or a multistate licensure privilege.
  • Have two years of experience as a registered nurse within the previous five years and at least one year of direct client care or supervisory experience in the provision of long-term care services.
  • Considerable knowledge of nurse aide training and development for entry to mid-level positions within healthcare certification programs.
  • Knowledge of adult training methods, curriculum design and development, and evaluation methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of training participants, faculty, staff, and business and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct professional presentations to employers and workforce partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects and assignments independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Considerations:

Other qualifying experience may include employment in a nurse aide education program or experience teaching, supervising, or overseeing nursing students in a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care setting, or other long-term care environment.
