Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a License & ID Technician. This is a technical position in a high volume DMV production unit responding to mail and telephone inquiries for service. This position will also respond to and provide guidance on routine and non-routine licensing inquiries to DMV Customer Service Center. In addition, the position will respond to other internal and external customers via telephone, written, and Internet correspondence. The selected candidate will participate as required in program initiatives and activities designed to enhance work center processes and to expedite production. This position is also responsible for determining an applicant’s eligibility for a Virginia’s driver’s license or a commercial driver’s license. Advises citizens of requirements in writing or by telephone and updates the automated records in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications
•Knowledge of Business English and Mathematics
•Experience interpreting and explaining guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures to customers
•Proficiency in automated systems and excellent PC skills with considerable knowledge of Word, and Excel
•Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with others both orally and through written correspondence
•Ability to analyze records with attention to detail; collaborates with colleagues and management to make informed decisions
